Located high in the Andes mountains in southern Chile lies the beautiful community of Mapuche Indians in Quiñenahuín. I had the opportunity of working on the school in January and November 2009 after it had burned.
In 2006 the Latin America ChildCare Vocational High School in Quiñenahuín burned to the ground destroying the only school of it's kind for the Mapuche students of Southern Chile.
The fire started when the wood burning heat stove became too hot for a single wall flue. Praise God no one was physically injured.
As you can see it was a total loss. Nothing was left unburned.
The only thing they could do was start to clear away the debris and rebuild.
And the rebuilding started in full force with the nationals working along side of teams from Chile and the U.S.
Pastor Fernando spearheaded the construction.
