Availability

Availability

The condition of being available, especially of being easily accessible or obtainable.  God is asking for our availability, are we easily accessible or obtainable for God?

The other day I was reading a magazine article and it said “God is more concerned about our availability than our ability.”  Wow!  It seems most of our lives we are working on our abilities, we go to school, college, learn something new almost every day, which I think is good and God gives us the ability to learn and improve ourselves but I know for myself I have always felt my abilities were never good enough.  But God wants my availability not necessarily my abilities.  Thank you Jesus!

When we give God our availability He uses our abilities that we have always had, the training we have had over the years, the God given abilities that we all seem to have from the beginning.  The gift of teaching, preaching, helps, music whatever it is that comes easy to us or maybe not easy, but we have perfected these abilities over the years with God’s help.

I want to say today, God I am available to be used where you want me, where you need me.  You have all of me including my abilities to use for your kingdom.  We are all God’s children; we are His eyes, hands, feet, mouth to witness to hurting people around us or as in our case across an ocean.  That brings to mind an old hymn (yes a hymn) we use to sing every time a Missionary came to our church when I was growing up.

"It may not be on the mountain’s height,
Or over the stormy sea;
It may not be at the battle’s front,
My Lord will have need of me;
But if by a still, small voice He calls,
To paths that I do not know,
I’ll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in Thine,
I’ll go where You want me to go."

Refrain:
I’ll go where You want me to go, dear Lord,
O’er mountain, or plain, or sea;
I’ll say what You want me to say, dear Lord,
I’ll be what You want me to be.

"There’s surely somewhere a lowly place,
In earth’s harvest fields so white,
Where I may labor through life’s short day,
For Jesus the Crucified;
So trusting my all to Thy tender care,
And knowing Thou lovest me,
I’ll do Thy will with a heart sincere,
I’ll be what You want me to be."

Lord, I am available to be used by you; I give you all of my abilities to be used, how you see fit, anywhere in this big wide world.

Lord, we are available show us the way.
